THE BRAIN STATE STAFF

Brain State Technologies® was founded by Lee Gerdes and his son, Peter, in 2001. Lee struggled for more than nine years with his own symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, compelling him to seek a new path to a better life. Bringing together his knowledge of health, spirituality, physics and technology, he created Brainwave Optimization™. Today, the Brain State Technologies® team includes individuals with a high level of talent, passion and commitment to connect others to the benefits of a balanced brain.

  • Lee Gerdes
    Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Lee Gerdes is Founder and CEO of Brain State Technologies®. He is the creator of Brainwave Optimization with Real-Time Balancing™.

Lee is the author of Limitless You: The Infinite Possibilities of a Balanced Brain, published in 2009 by Namaste Publishing. His work emanates from a combination of his interests in how the brain works and how it affects mind, body and spirit – and his own personal trauma, a vicious assault that occurred in 1992. Lee has dedicated his life to understanding neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to change itself) and how it can be applied to improve peoples’ lives.

Lee’s work is daily proof that, in fact, by optimizing our brain, we can optimize our entire life and that “we can at last be the limitless individuals we were born to be.”

He has brought his message to countless magazines, newspapers, television and radio interview shows and continues to be sought after to speak across the world on how we can apply advanced technology to restore balance and harmony to our lives.

In 2004, Lee started KudoZone, a brain state conditioning business, which now furnishes Brain State Conditioning capability to thousands of people. In 2005, KudoZone became Brain State Technologies®, with affiliate offices throughout the world. He has been a systems analyst, pastoral counselor, management consultant, and vice president of solutions for NetPerceptions.

Lee’s education includes Doane College in Crete, Nebraska; Columbia University in New York; John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, California and Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.

  • Peter Gerdes
Chief Information Officer and Acting Chief Operations Officer

With more than 15 years of experience in the field of information technology, Peter Gerdes represents a strong combination of interest and experience in both the natural sciences and technology. After Peter’s father, Lee, began experimenting with Brainwave Optimization on himself, he turned to his son, who had left college and was experiencing a sense of chaos so many young adults do. With not-so-subtle encouragement from his dad, Lee and Peter began designing and testing protocol that would soon become Brain State Technologies.

Completing his own series of intensive brain training sessions, Peter was able to complete school and graduate on the dean’s list. Brainwave optimization increased his clarity of thought, leading him to apply what he had learned in the biological sciences and information technology to advance the work at Brain State.

Today, Peter is one of the main architects of the Brainwave Optimization™ system, continuously working with his father, the software development team, and other leading experts and researchers to usher in new applications that will improve the quality of life for those who suffer with brainwave imbalances.

Peter has a personal interest in the brain-body connection, having developed his own program of maximum performance in fitness and nutrition. He is passionate about making Brainwave Optimization available to athletes, executives and performers to enhance mental acuity and performance.

Peter graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems and has completed advanced studies in microbiology, genetics, theoretical chemistry, molecular biology and accounting.  He also has a certificate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Developing and Managing a Successful Technology and Product Strategy.

Peter was honored as a 2011 CIO of the Year by the Arizona Technology Council, honoring his leadership,  innovation and creativity in planning and deploying IT systems for Brain State Technologies.
